Due to current band conditions, most of my operation has been on But then I started to have problems. The 20 meter version only uses a small loading coil and is about 13 feet tall and loaded well above center. I wanted something a bit cleaner, self supporting and optimized for the higher bands. I gutted it of the crank mechanism and use the shell to tilt my mast up and down. They both plug into routers connected to DSL or broadband and away you go. There is also a greater tendency for RFI problems with the other electronic devices in the house due to the close proximity of the antenna. To support such a top 'L' load, I use the combination of a stiff whip and a guy line. Ratings and reviews Write a review.
Done correctly this method slides the stake right out of the ground. May be a good candidate for the flag pole approach but it will have to be enclosed in PVC pipe. Field testing so far indicates it works very well. Please Contact Peter for detailed information. Under the 40 meter coil is a 20 meter resonator which is mounted at a 45 degree angle.
There was a slight advantage to tuning this antenna either for SSB or CW given the very large size of the 15 meter band, but it was broad banded enough to be tuned to a compromise frequency like Share your thoughts with other customers. The entire thing is light and sets up very fast, except for the fiddly bit with the radials. I made a rotatable dipole out of Hustler resonators and it performed well from 40 through 10m. Some reports are quite complimentary, others, not so much.
